Now: 233rd Season, in November 1781 the first concert in the Gewandhaus took place.
Today 180 top musicians play a whole season nearly daily in three 'Houses': for church music in St. Thomas and Nikolai churches, in the Opera and in the Concerthouse (Gewandhaus) world premiers and classicals.
Mendelssohn, Mozart and Brahms performed their own works here.
